Security Bureau Youth Uniformed Group Leaders Forum holds annual review (with photos)

     The annual review of the Security Bureau (SB) Youth Uniformed Group Leaders Forum (Leaders Forum) was held at the Central Government Offices today (September 23) for youth members of the first year of the Leaders Forum to conclude their experiences and achievements in the past year and give presentations on their research topics. The Leaders Forum also set out activities in the coming year, hoping to strengthen co-operation with a university on the Mainland to deepen exchanges and the learning of members, and better nurture youths.
 
     In his speech, the Acting Chief Executive, Mr Chan Kwok-ki, said the Leaders Forum has organised nearly 20 activities in the past year, including courses and training camps by different disciplined services and auxiliary services, seminars on the country's Constitution, the Basic Law and the Hong Kong National Security Law as well as visits to Beijing, Shaanxi and the Mainland cities of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA), allowing members to learn more about national affairs and broaden their horizons. He was pleased that the SB will strengthen co-operation between the Leaders Forum and Shenzhen University to enhance exchanges between youths in Hong Kong and Shenzhen, and deepen their understanding of the development opportunities in the GBA so as to better integrate into the national development.
 
     The youth members shared their learning achievements at the event, including a sharing by the two youth members who won the first prize of the 25 Years On, Our Hong Kong, My Story Video Contest, organised by the Office of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region a few months ago. The members also shared their experiences from the Leaders Forum as well as their internships in the SB. In addition, the member representatives gave presentations on research related to the country and youths, including enhancing youths' awareness of national security, encouraging young people to actively participate in public services and strengthening youths' sense of national identity. The members received feedback from the guests.
 
     The Secretary for Security, Mr Tang Ping-keung, said that he was pleased to see that members have significant growth and progress after completing the year-long learning. He noted that a member has been recommended to be a candidate to represent Hong Kong at the Youth Forum 2024 of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, a member received an internship in a leading Mainland innovation and technology enterprise and some members have successfully joined the disciplined services. He expressed the hope that the members will continue to take a leadership role regardless of the positions they hold to contribute to the country and Hong Kong.
 
     Mr Tang thanked various distinguished leaders for their strong support to the Leaders Forum, including the Founding Chairman, Mr Yeung Fun-bun; the Chairman, Ms Cheng Cheung-ling; the Permanent President, Mr Chan Hak-kan; as well as Presidents Mr Cheung Wah-fung and Mr Kwan Chi-ping. He also thanked Mr Wilfred Ng, Mr Kerry Wong, Mrs Mary Suen and Mr Benny Wong for joining the Advisory Board to provide valuable advice on the development of the Leaders Forum.
