This is the seventh year in a row that the OAFF is running the programme with the support of the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office (Tokyo).
To mark the occasion, a "Hong Kong Night" was held this evening (March 16), during which "In Your Dreams", directed by Tam Wai-ching, was shown to some 300 movie fans.
Speaking at the "Hong Kong Night" reception after the movie screening, the Principal Hong Kong Economic and Trade Representative (Tokyo), Ms Shirley Yung, said that the Hong Kong Government attaches great importance to promoting the Hong Kong film brand overseas.
"Our film industry is just like Hong Kong – it is multi-faceted, unique, energetic and very international. By promoting Hong Kong films overseas, we hope that more people would get to see the artistic side of Hong Kong, as a colourful city full of arts and culture rather than just being a prime business hub and global financial centre," Ms Yung said.
At the movie screening and reception, Ms Yung was joined by Hong Kong film talents whose works have been selected for screening in the film festival.
