"Jazz Up" series to feature spectacular jazz concerts and lectures
From October to January next year, the Leisure and Cultural Services Department will present an array of not-to-be-missed programmes in the "Jazz Up" series, including concerts and lectures.

A highlight of the series will be a concert by Antonio Sanchez and Migration. Antonio Sanchez is a four-time Grammy Award winner. Sanchez's five-piece band Migration features some of the finest musicians from New York City: Seamus Blake on saxophone, John Escreet on piano, Matt Brewer on bass and Thana Alexa on vocals. The programme will be staged at 8pm on November 24 (Friday) at the Concert Hall of Hong Kong City Hall. Tickets are priced from $180 to $480.

Early next year, Teriver Cheung and Chok Kerong will stage the concert "Departure". Teriver Cheung represents a new generation of jazz artists making their mark on the international stage. Cheung's latest commissioned work, "Departure", is a joint effort with Singaporean composer and keyboardist Chok Kerong, and will be making its debut in the "Jazz Up" series. The programme will be staged at 8pm on January 5 and 6 (Friday and Saturday) at the Studio Theatre of the Hong Kong Cultural Centre. Tickets are priced at $150 and $220.

Apart from concerts, there will be the "Getting to Know Jazz" Lecture Demonstration series. Speaker Mark Leung is a jazz guitarist and local jazz double bassist Barry Lam will give demonstrations in the lectures. The lectures will be held at 7.30pm on each Wednesday from October 11 to November 1 at the Lecture Hall of the Hong Kong Space Museum. Tickets are priced at $50 for each lecture.
