The Chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), Mr Li Ruihuan, visited the Bank of China Hong Kong Branch and the Stock Exchange on the fourth day of his visit to Hong Kong.
He began his programme this (November 8) morning with a tour of the treasury centre and the banking hall at the Bank of China Building. He was also briefed on the architectural design of the building.
Chairman Li then proceeded to the Stock Exchange of Hong Kong. Accompanied by the Financial Secretary, Mr Donald Tsang, and the Secretary for Financial Services, Mr Stephen Ip, he talked to traders on the trading hall after being given a briefing on the operation of the Exchange.
He was delighted to receive a trader's vest with a lucky number of 3338 presented by the Stock Exchange as a souvenir at the end of his visit.
In the late afternoon, Chairman Li had a meeting with local delegates of the CPPCC before hosting a dinner for them at the Hong Kong International Trade and Exhibition Centre in Kowloon Bay.
