The Chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), Mr Li Ruihuan, visited a primary school and a hospital in Tai Po this (November 6) morning on the second day of his visit to Hong Kong.
Accompanied by the Chief Executive, Mr Tung Chee Hwa, Chairman Li saw two classes of students at the Tai Po Old Market Public School learning computer and multi-media skills. He also talked to some of the teachers and students.
The students performed lion dance and gymnastics for Chairman Li in the school hall and presented handicrafts they made to him. He donated some toys and books to the school.
He then proceeded to the Tai Po Hospital where he met a group of elderly patients at the Activity Room of the Occupation Therapy Department. After touring the Plumonary Rehabilitation and Health Centre, he was briefed at the podium of the hospital by the Secretary for Works, Mr Lee Shing-see, on the latest developments of Tai Po.
In the afternoon, Chairman Li met senior representatives of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR), Office of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in HKSAR, Hong Kong Garrison of the Chinese People's Liberation Army and leading Chinese enterprises at the hotel.
Later in the evening, he attended a reception in celebration of the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Hong Kong Chinese General Chamber of Commerce at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.
