Chief Executive welcomes CPPCC Chairman Li Ruihuan to visit HKSAR

The Chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), Mr Li Ruihuan, arrived in Hong Kong this (November 5) morning for a five-day visit at the invitation of the Chief Executive, Mr Tung Chee Hwa.

Leading a greeting party at Hong Kong Airport, Mr Tung extended a warm and hearty welcome to Chairman Li.

Also greeting Chairman Li were the Chief Secretary for Administration, Mrs Anson Chan; the Financial Secretary, Mr Donald Tsang; and the Secretary for Justice, Ms Elsie Leung.

Chairman Li started his official programme in Hong Kong with a cruise of the Victoria Harbour in the afternoon to see the landmarks and developments on both sides of the harbour.

Later in the evening, he attended a banquet hosted by the Chief Executive in his honour at Government House.

He also met with the Chief Justice, Mr Andrew Li; Convenor of the Executive Council, Mr Leung Chun-ying; President of Legislative Council, Mrs Rita Fan; Principal Officials of the HKSAR Government and Members of the Executive Council before the banquet.
