Import of poultry meat and products from areas in UK and Poland suspended (16.10.2025)
The Centre for Food Safety (CFS) of the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department announced today (October 16) that in view of notifications from the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs of the United Kingdom (UK) and the World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH) about outbreaks of highly pathogenic H5N1 avian influenza in Cheshire East District of Cheshire County in the UK, and Ostróda District of the WarmiĆsko-Mazurskie Region and Konin District of the Wielkopolskie Region in Poland respectively, the CFS has instructed the trade to suspend the import of poultry meat and products (including poultry eggs) from the above-mentioned areas with immediate effect to protect public health in Hong Kong.
