**********************************************

At the invitation of the Taiwan-Hong Kong Economic and Cultural Co-operation Council (THEC), the Financial Secretary, Mr John C Tsang, departed for a visit to Taipei today (August 28) in his capacity as the Honorary Chairperson of the Hong Kong-Taiwan Economic and Cultural Co-operation and Promotion Council (ECCPC). Following is the transcript of remarks (English portion) of Mr Tsang at the media stand-up session upon his arrival at the Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport today:

Reporter: Do you expect any agreement to be signed during the visit here, in particular of the arrangement of visa free agreement?

Financial Secretary: The important thing is the visit itself. So what we are looking forward to is a good beginning and so, very much we want to initiate the process between the two committees so that we can begin discussion on everything that would be beneficial to Hong Kong and Taiwan.

Reporter: ...... Chung Hwa Travel Service in Hong Kong to be renamed to reflect its position. What is the Hong Kong Government's position on this?

Financial Secretary: The agency has been in Hong Kong for some time, and I think as the work between Hong Kong and Taiwan increases, their work will also increase. And if there is something beneficial to both Hong Kong and Taiwan, we will work very hard to facilitate it.
