************************************************************************
TROPICAL CYCLONE WARNING BULLETIN (SIGNAL NO. 3)

TROPICAL CYCLONE WARNING BULLETIN

HERE IS THE LATEST TROPICAL CYCLONE WARNING BULLETIN ISSUED
BY THE HONG KONG OBSERVATORY.

THE STRONG WIND SIGNAL, NO. 3 IS IN FORCE.

THIS MEANS THAT WINDS WITH MEAN SPEEDS OF 41 TO 62
KILOMETRES PER HOUR ARE EXPECTED.

AT 4 A.M., TROPICAL STORM ROKE WAS ESTIMATED TO BE ABOUT
170 KILOMETRES EAST-SOUTHEAST OF HONG KONG (NEAR 21.9
DEGREES NORTH 115.8 DEGREES EAST) AND IS FORECAST TO MOVE
WEST-NORTHWEST AT ABOUT 20 KILOMETRES PER HOUR EDGING
CLOSER TO THE VICINITY OF THE PEARL RIVER DELTA.

ROKE CONTINUES TO MOVE STEADILY TOWARDS THE VICINITY OF THE
PEARL RIVER DELTA. IT IS EXPECTED TO ENTER THE 100 KM AREA
OF THE TERRITORY AND THE STRONG WIND SIGNAL NO. 3 WILL
PERSIST. THE OBSERVATORY WILL CLOSELY MONITOR THE FUTURE
MOVEMENT OF ROKE, AND CONSIDER THE NEED TO ISSUE HIGHER
TROPICAL CYCLONE WARNING SIGNAL.

AS THE CIRCULATION OF ROKE IS SMALL, WINDS WILL STRENGTHEN
SIGNIFICANTLY ONLY WHEN ROKE IS RATHER CLOSE TO HONG KONG.
THE PUBLIC SHOULD STAY ON THE ALERT AND NOT TO RELAX
PRECAUTIONS.

THERE WILL BE SQUALLY SHOWERS OVER THE COAST OF GUANGDONG
AND THERE WILL ALSO BE SWELLS. YOU ARE ADVISED TO STAY AWAY
FROM THE SHORELINE AND NOT TO ENGAGE IN WATER SPORTS.
