Appointments to Expert Committee on Food Safety announced

The Secretary for Environment and Ecology, Mr Tse Chin-wan, said the Government strives to ensure that food for sale in Hong Kong is safe and fit for consumption to safeguard public health. He hoped the Expert Committee can provide advice to the Director of Food and Environmental Hygiene (DFEH) on matters relating to food safety.
He thanked the four outgoing members, namely Dr Scott Crerar, Dr Tse Man-li, Professor May Tse Pui-ying and Professor Jack Wong Wing-tak, for their invaluable contribution to the work of the Expert Committee over the past years.
The Expert Committee advises the DFEH on existing or new food safety operational strategies and measures to protect public health. It also advises the DFEH on standards or guidelines relating to food safety and food composition having regard to international practices, trends and developments.
