SCMA visits Guangzhou (with photos)

     The Secretary for Constitutional and Mainland Affairs, Miss Janice Tse Siu-wa, visited Guangzhou today (July 7) to meet with leaders of the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of Guangdong Province (GDHKMAO), the Development and Reform Commission of Guangdong Province (GDDRC) and the Nansha District People's Government, to gather their views proactively in preparing for Hong Kong's First Five-Year Plan. She also visited the Nansha Innovation and Entrepreneurship Theme Exhibition Hall to learn about the latest developments in Nansha.

     Miss Tse met with the Director of GDHKMAO, Ms Chen Li-wen; the Deputy Director of GDDRC and Executive Deputy Director of the Greater Bay Area (GBA) Office of Guangdong Province, Mr Zhu Wei; and the Secretary of the CPC Nansha District Committee, Mr Liu Wei to exchange views on strengthening the alignment between Guangdong and Hong Kong under Hong Kong's First Five-Year Plan, and deepening co-operation between the two places during the 15th Five-Year Plan period.

     "The Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region is working at full speed to draw up Hong Kong's First Five-Year Plan, which will set out the city's development vision and strategic directions for the next five years. The Plan will definitely have a close connection with the GBA, of which Hong Kong is a part. Hong Kong will work more closely with Guangdong Province and the cities of the GBA to jointly explore forward-looking and strategic development directions, and to leverage respective strengths to promote the development of the GBA," said Miss Tse.

     Miss Tse then visited the Nansha Innovation and Entrepreneurship Theme Exhibition Hall to learn about the work of Nansha in implementing the Overall Plan for Deepening Globally Oriented Comprehensive Co-operation amongst Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao in Nansha of Guangzhou, including the achievements in the participation of developing the GBA into a national comprehensive science centre, upgrading of industries through technological innovation and exploring broader horizons for economic development for Hong Kong and Macao.

     The Commissioner for the Development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, Miss Pamela Lam, was among the officials joining the visit.
