Hospital Authority announces senior appointment (with photo)

The Hospital Authority (HA) spokesperson announced the following senior appointment today (June 5):
Dr Eric Cheung will be appointed as Hospital Chief Executive (HCE) of Kai Tak Hospital (KTH), with effect from June 12, 2026, in addition to his current appointment as Cluster Chief Executive of Kowloon Central and HCE of Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH).
Dr Cheung is a specialist in psychiatry and a seasoned senior executive with solid experience in healthcare service management. Since assuming his current appointment in March 2022, Dr Cheung has been responsible for implementing a number of service improvement initiatives, including the planning and commissioning of new services at KTH, and the gradual transfer of clinical services of QEH to KTH, with the aim of enhancing the service quality of the cluster and shortening patients' waiting times. Prior to his current appointment, he was the HCE of Kwong Wah Hospital, Castle Peak Hospital and Siu Lam Hospital. He has also played a significant role in driving and shaping service developments in mental health at the corporate level.
The HA Chairman, Mr Henry Fan, and the HA Chief Executive, Dr Libby Lee, congratulated Dr Cheung on his new appointment and wished him every success in taking up the new role.
