Rural By-election to be held on Sunday

Nineteen Rural Representative vacancies are open in the by-election and 19 valid nominations were received during the nomination period. There are two candidates each running for the respective Indigenous Inhabitant Representative posts of Sha Lo Tung Cheung Uk of the Tai Po Rural Committee, Kam Tsin Wai Tsuen of the Pat Heung Rural Committee, Wa Shan Tsuen of the Sheung Shui District Rural Committee and Yung Shue Ha of the Lamma Island (South) Rural Committee; and two candidates running for a Resident Representative post of Lin Fa Tei of the Pat Heung Rural Committee. Polling will be held for these five vacancies.
The other nine candidates were returned uncontested to be the Indigenous Inhabitant Representatives of Ha Yeung, Tai Po Mei, Kat O, Ma Wan Main Street and San Tong Po; and the Resident Representatives of Sheung Ling Pei, Shek Pik San Tsuen, Wo Liu Hang and Sha Tau Kok Market (West Lower).
No valid nomination was received for the remaining five vacancies, including the Indigenous Inhabitant Representative vacancy of Kwan Mun Hau, and the Resident Representative vacancies of Shan Pui Chung Hau (I), Shui Tin Tsuen, Tai Po and Tap Mun.
Polling will be held from noon to 7pm on May 17. Each elector is required to bring along the original of his/her identity document or other specific alternative document to the designated polling station as specified in the polling notice.
