SEE visits resource recycling and ecological projects in Tianjin (with photos)
******************************************************************************
Mr Tse visited the green low-carbon circular economy demonstration base under the China Resources Recycling Group at the Tianjin Port Free Trade Zone in the morning. He visited the production line of the Qiyuan Core Power and the green sorting centre, and exchanged views with the enterprise representatives to understand how the base supports the country in promoting green transportation infrastructure and resource recycling.
In the afternoon, Mr Tse visited the China-Singapore Tianjin Eco-City jointly developed by the governments from both sides. He visited the smart centre and the Jinghu sewage reservoir to understand their experience in promoting an ecological civilisation.
Mr Tse then met with the leaders of the China Resources Recycling Group to discuss the promotion of development of the circular economy. Mr Tse said the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) Government will strive to promote the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) co-operation, including technical exchanges and market alignment for green industries. He added that the Government will continue to explore the feasibility of cross-boundary collaboration in managing recyclable materials to enhance resource management efficiency and contribute to carbon reduction.
Mr Tse added that the HKSAR Government will leverage Hong Kong's advantages of being strongly supported by the motherland and closely connected to the world, as well as its status as an international financial centre and its wealth of high-quality professional services, to actively attract and support enterprises in developing green technology projects across the GBA, with a view to developing Hong Kong and the GBA into a green technology demonstration base, and supporting the country in advancing the "bringing in and going global" function.
Mr Tse will return to Hong Kong tomorrow morning (April 18).
