Employer fined for violation of safety legislation

World Treasure (Hong Kong) Limited was fined $46,000 at Shatin Magistrates' Courts today (October 24) for violations of the Occupational Safety and Health Ordinance and the Factories and Industrial Undertakings (Safety Management) Regulation. The prosecutions were launched by the Labour Department.

The case involved a fatal accident that occurred on November 27, 2023, at a food factory in Tai Po. A worker, while operating a pallet jack to load plastic trays onto the tail lift platform of a truck, fell to the ground. He sustained a head injury and passed away 14 days later.
