******************************************************************************************
The Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) has invited internationally acclaimed pianist Nikolai Lugansky to make his Hong Kong recital debut on September 14 with a curated progamme featuring masterworks by legendary composers for music lovers. This programme is part of the third Asia+ Festival and the Great Music 2025.

In the first half of the recital, Lugansky will perform Beethoven's "Piano Sonata No. 17 in D minor, Op. 31, No. 2, 'The Tempest'" and Schumann's "Faschingsschwank aus Wien, Op. 26". The second half of the recital features three transcriptions of excerpts adapted from Wagner's operas, namely "Entry of the Gods into Valhalla" from Act II, Scene 4 of "Das Rheingold"; "Magic Fire Music" from Act III, Scene 3 of "Die Walküre"; and "Transformation Music and Finale" from Act I and III of "Parsifal". Lugansky will then conclude the recital with Liszt's "St François de Paule: Marchant sur les flots" (Deux Légendes, S. 175, No. 2).

Described by British classical music magazine "Gramophone" as "the most trailblazing and meteoric performer of all", Lugansky collaborates regularly with conductors of the calibre of Kent Nagano, Yuri Temirkanov, Manfred Honeck, Gianandrea Noseda and Vasily Petrenko, among others. He has regularly been invited by leading international orchestras, including the Berliner Philharmoniker, London Symphony Orchestra and Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra, as well as participating in the world's most distinguished festivals such as the Aspen, Tanglewood and Verbier festivals. Lugansky has received numerous awards for his many acclaimed recordings, including Diapason d'Or, the Premio Abbiati del Disco for solo repertoire, "Gramophone"'s "Editor's Choice" and has been included in "The Best Classical Albums of the Year".
