HKSAR Government strongly opposes and condemns unsubstantiated accusations by some other countries, organisations and politicians against National Security Department's enforcement actions
******************************************************************************************
The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) Government today (July 6) strongly opposes and condemns some other countries, organisations and politicians for making irresponsible and unsubstantiated accusations against the lawful actions of the National Security Department (NSD) of the Hong Kong Police Force to put persons at large on a wanted list. Such remarks were purely politically motivated.

A spokesperson for the HKSAR Government said that endangering national security is a very serious offence. No country will watch with folded arms acts and activities that endanger national security. The persons involved in the NSD's actions, who have fled overseas, are alleged to have continued to commit offences under the Hong Kong National Security Law that seriously endanger national security, including "incitement to secession", "subversion", "incitement to subversion", and "collusion with a foreign country or with external elements to endanger national security". The actions by the NSD are reasonable, rational and legal.

"Extraterritoriality in national security laws fully aligns with the international legal principle of 'protective jurisdiction' and international practice. Wanton criticisms and smears concerning extraterritoriality of the Hong Kong National Security Law and the Police's operations are clearly typical manipulations tainted with double standards, fully exposing their hypocrisy and arrogance," the spokesman stressed.

"The HKSAR Government will, with the principle of 'laws being observed so as to bring offenders to account' as the basis, continue to make tireless efforts and seize every opportunity to apprehend the fugitive offenders in accordance with the law and will not allow them to evade justice," the spokesman added.
