The Secretary for Home and Youth Affairs, Miss Alice Mak, met with the delegations from the Committee on Liaison with Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and Overseas Chinese of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), Zhejiang Province and Nansha District respectively. They exchanged views on various areas of youth work including promoting Hong Kong young people to integrate into the overall development of the country and fostering exchanges between young people of the two places. The Under Secretary for Home and Youth Affairs, Mr Clarence Leung, and the Commissioner for Youth, Mr Wallace Lau, also joined the meetings.

Miss Mak first met with the Chairperson of the Committee on Liaison with Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and Overseas Chinese of the National Committee of the CPPCC, Mr Liu Cigui, and his delegation in the morning. In the Youth Development Blueprint released by the Home and Youth Affairs Bureau (HYAB) last year, it is stated that its vision is "to nurture a new generation of young people with an affection for our country and Hong Kong and equipped with global perspectives, an aspiring mindset and positive thinking". Miss Mak said that the HYAB will continue to work closely with the Committee on Promotion of Civic Education and the District Youth Development and Civic Education Committee in 18 districts to promote young people's understanding of the country and foster a stronger national identity through different channels and diversified means, with a view to facilitating their integration into the overall development of the country. At the meeting, Mr Liu also provided guidance on how to enable Hong Kong young people to integrate into the country's overall development.

Miss Mak met the delegation led by Deputy Director of the Department of Hong Kong and Macao Affairs of the People's Government of Zhejiang Province Mr Yao Guowen. Miss Mak said the Government of Zhejiang Province has been providing staunch support to the youth development work in Hong Kong. With the resumption of normal travel between Hong Kong and the Mainland and the rest of the world, the HYAB has resumed various youth internship and exchange activities to offer opportunities to Hong Kong youths to visit different Mainland provinces and cities for exchange and internship, including projects that cover Zhejiang. She expressed hope to continue the co-operation with Zhejiang Province to strengthen exchanges between young people in Hong Kong and Zhejiang and to encourage Hong Kong youths to see for themselves the latest situation and development of the country.

Miss Mak also met Deputy District Mayor of Nansha District of Guangzhou Municipality Ms Liu Xiaotung and her delegation to exchange views on the Overall Plan for Deepening Globally Oriented Comprehensive Co-operation amongst Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao in Nansha of Guangzhou (Nansha Plan), promulgated by the Central Government in June last year. Miss Mak expressed her full support for leveraging and organically integrating the complementary advantages of Guangzhou Municipality's Nansha Plan and the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government's Youth Development Blueprint. She said the HYAB would continue to work with Nansha in promoting youth development and encouraging Hong Kong youths to seize the opportunities brought by the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Development and the Nansha Plan.
