19 building plans approved in March

     The Buildings Department approved 19 building plans in March, with six on Hong Kong Island, 11 in Kowloon and two in the New Territories.
 
     Of the approved plans, 12 were for apartment and apartment/commercial developments, two were for commercial developments, two were for factory and industrial developments, and three were for community services development.
 
     In the same month, consent was given for works to start on 22 building projects which, when completed, will provide 98 800 square metres of gross floor area for domestic use involving 2 636 units, and 95 060 sq m of gross floor area for non-domestic use. The department has received notification of commencement of superstructure works for 11 building projects.
 
     The department also issued 25 occupation permits, with three on Hong Kong Island, 12 in Kowloon and 10 in the New Territories.
 
     Of the buildings certified for occupation, the gross floor area for domestic use was 19 155 sq m involving 503 units, and 81 197 sq m was for non-domestic use.
 
     The declared cost of new buildings completed in March totalled about $8.2 billion.
 
     In addition, eight demolition consents involving eight building structures were issued.
 
     The department received 2 723 reports about unauthorised building works (UBWs) in March and issued 1 031 removal orders on UBWs.
