Hospital Authority meets with Mainland health officials and delegations (with photos)

The following is issued on behalf of the Hospital Authority:
 
     The Hospital Authority (HA) Chairman, Mr Henry Fan, and Chief Executive, Dr Tony Ko, met with a delegation led by the Party Group Member of the National Health Commission cum Party Secretary of the National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine (NATCM), Professor Yu Yanhong, today (May 17) to exchange views on Chinese Medicine (CM) services and the integrated Chinese-Western Medicine (ICWM) programme, and discussed issues related to promoting CM development in Hong Kong.
      
     Mr Fan said, "The HA is grateful to the NATCM for its staunch support all along to the development of CM in Hong Kong, particularly in the training of backbone CM talent. It will promote the continuous enhancement of the CM profession and the development of CM in Hong Kong."
      
     The HA launched the Greater Bay Area CM Visiting Scholars Programme in November last year, inviting experienced Mainland CM experts to go on exchange to Hong Kong, aiming at training high-level CM talent in the Greater Bay Area, and building a professional exchange platform for medical talent between Hong Kong and the Mainland.
      
     Secretary Yu was delighted that the HA had been actively dovetailing with and implementing the Construction Plan for the Chinese Medicine Highlands in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (2020-2025), and expressed support and recognition for the deepening of exchanges between Guangdong and Hong Kong. Secretary Yu also recognised the effort of the medical sector in Hong Kong and commended the HA's effort to promulgate ICWM services. The NATCM will continue to guide and support the works in the area concerned in Hong Kong.
      
     The delegation of the NATCM also visited Haven of Hope Hospital (HHH) in the afternoon to learn about the results of advanced clinical training provided by the Greater Bay Area CM experts to local CM practitioners in HHH, and initially explored the service model of ICWM and new disease areas. They also discussed with CM practitioners and medical staff to understand the latest development of the ICWM programme in Hong Kong.
      
     Mr Fan and Dr Ko also conducted a meeting with the delegation led by the Director of the Health Commission of Guangdong Province, Mr Zhu Hong, and healthcare workers participating in the Greater Bay Area Healthcare Talents Visiting Programmes to exchange views on issues regarding enhancing exchanges between Hong Kong and the Mainland during the HA Convention 2023 held yesterday and today (May 16 and 17). In addition, the HA also held a meeting with the delegation led by Deputy Director of the Health Commission of Shanghai Municipality Mr Yu Tao and the delegation of Shanghai Hospital Development Center to share views on the development of public hospitals and to discuss strengthening the co-operation between Hong Kong and Shanghai on improving hospital management.
