******************************************************************************
The Hong Kong Youth Symphonic Band (HKYSB) of the Music Office (MO) under the Leisure and Cultural Services Department will hold its annual concert entitled "Sai Kung · Sunset Sunrise" at 3pm on May 21 (Sunday) at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre Concert Hall. The concert marks the start of the "Carry the Music On" Concert Series, a commemorative programme in celebration of the MO transcending beyond its 45-year mark.

The concert will be conducted by MO instructors Lee Sing-wan, Kevin Ling, Au Wai-see and Eric Ng. Saxophonist and MO alumnus Virgil Fok, and the Music Office Junior Symphonic Band will join the performance to celebrate the distinguished accomplishments of the MO for more than 45 years through splendid band music.

Highlights include the world premiere of local composer Lo Hau-man's "Dear My Sai Kung", a commissioned work sponsored by the Hong Kong Composers' Guild; the enchanting and imaginative "The Knight of the Sky", depicting the fantasy of flying through the sky; "Seagull" from the second movement of "Birds", reflecting the sorrow for the vagaries of life; late composer Colin Touchin's "The Setting Sun Also Rises (in Celebration of Lives Too Soon Lost)" in commemoration of his contributions to the development of wind music in Hong Kong; and "Around the World", leading audience to experience a worldwide music journey with mixed musical characteristics from different regions.

The HKYSB was formed in 1978 with the aim of nurturing young musicians and arousing greater interest in band music in Hong Kong. The Band currently has around 60 members and recruits annually by open audition. It has performed in Hong Kong and overseas, winning much acclaim.
