13th CPPCC Vice Chairman and Director of Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of State Council Mr Xia Baolong concludes six-day visit to Hong Kong (with photos/videos)

     The Vice Chairman of the 13th Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and Director of the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of the State Council, Mr Xia Baolong, continued his visit in Hong Kong for the last day today (April 18). Accompanied by the Chief Executive, Mr John Lee, and the Secretary for Education, Dr Choi Yuk-lin, he visited various education units to learn about education in Hong Kong.
 
     This morning, Mr Xia visited the University of Hong Kong (HKU). He was briefed by the Chairman of the HKU Council, Ms Priscilla Wong, and the President and Vice-Chancellor of HKU, Professor Zhang Xiang, on HKU's development blueprint. He also gained understanding in the aspects of medicine, scientific research and innovation of the University.
 
     In the afternoon, Mr Xia visited the Chinese Foundation Secondary School and Ma Tau Chung Government Primary School (Hung Hom Bay) to see for himself secondary and primary education in Hong Kong. He learned about the progress of the implementation of national education and national security education, and the promotion of national awareness in schools, as well as the work of schools in nurturing students through different subjects.
 
     Having concluded his six-day visit in Hong Kong, Mr Xia departed from Hong Kong for Beijing this afternoon.
