Ms Ho and the delegation first visited an indemnificatory housing project in Zhangkeng, Longhua District in the morning. It is the first high-rise building project on the Mainland built expeditiously by adopting the Modular Integrated Construction method as a concrete construction approach which significantly reduced the construction time of the building works. The modules were pre-fabricated in factories and delivered to the construction site for installation directly, which greatly reduced the demand for workers on site and construction waste. In addition, the electrical and mechanical plant rooms at the rooftop and the basement also adopted Design for Manufacture and Assembly modules pre-fabricated in factories. The quality of works had been enhanced and construction time shortened by reducing on-site construction processes.

In the meantime, Ms Ho attended the plaque-unveiling ceremony of the Shenzhen Real Estate Digitalization Innovation Laboratory and the Shenzhen Hongkong Housing and Construction Affairs Communication Space. The representatives participated in a seminar organised by the Housing and Construction Bureau of Shenzhen Municipality (HCBSM) afterwards to exchange views with the Party Secretary and Director-General of the HCBSM, Mr Xu Songming and relevant officials on construction technologies and urban planning and development.

The delegation then visited the Nantou City and the Dasha River Ecological Corridor to see the housing construction in the area. The greenery of river bank of Dasha River created a natural and comfortable leisure environment.

Ms Ho said that the Government has all along been exploring and introducing innovative construction technologies and better design, and welcomed more frequent exchange of experience with the Mainland. She considered the visit enriching and thanked the attentive arrangement of the Shenzhen Municipality.

Ms Ho will return to Hong Kong tonight after the visit.
