Overseas premiere of FFFI-funded project "Lost Love" held during Osaka Asian Film Festival (with photos)

     The "Hong Kong Gala Screening" featuring the Hong Kong film "Lost Love" was held in Osaka, Japan, tonight (March 16) during the 18th Osaka Asian Film Festival (OAFF). The film was also screened during the Festival earlier on March 11, marking the overseas premiere of this award-winning film project from the Professional Group of the sixth First Feature Film Initiative (FFFI).
 
     The gala screening, attended by some 300 film fans from Japan, was supported by the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office (Tokyo).
 
     Speaking at the "Hong Kong Night" reception before the screening, the Acting Principal Hong Kong Economic and Trade Representative (Tokyo), Miss Winsome Au, said that this had been the 12th consecutive year of collaboration with the OAFF to present a wide range of Hong Kong films to Japanese audiences.
 
      "We are excited that a Hong Kong film, 'Over My Dead Body', was chosen as the Special Opening for the OAFF this year. Moreover, another three Hong Kong films will compete for the OAFF's various awards," she told guests.
 
     "To further promote our film industry and nurture creative talents, the Chief Executive announced in his 2022 Policy Address that Create Hong Kong, a dedicated office set up by the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government to spearhead the development of creative industries, will support collaboration between local and Asian production teams for the co‑production of films. Some of the major events for the film industry, including the Hong Kong International Film & TV Market, or FILMART for short, also offer abundant opportunities for talents and the industry in both Hong Kong and Japan," she said.
 
     At the screening, Miss Au was joined by director Ka Sing-fung and actor Alan Luk of "Lost Love". The film talents also participated in a sharing session with the audience after the screening.
 
     The FFFI is one of the Government's initiatives to support the film industry. It takes the form of a competition in two groups: the High Education Institution Group and the Professional Group. The director of each participating team shall not have previously shot any commercial film of 80 minutes or above. The Film Development Fund will provide funding for winning teams to implement their film proposals and make their first commercial feature films. The seven editions of the FFFI launched so far have funded a total of 24 winning teams to produce their films, and have incubated 26 new directors.
