60th Meeting of APEC Expert Group on Energy Efficiency and Conservation concludes (with photos)

     ​Held in Hong Kong in hybrid mode, the 60th Meeting of Expert Group on Energy Efficiency and Conservation (EGEE&C) of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) concluded today (March 16).
      
     In the two-day meeting, around 60 experts and delegates from 15 APEC member economies and international organisations gathered to exchange views on energy intensity reduction, covering aspects such as policy frameworks, relevant regulations, practical experience and technological developments.
      
     In his closing remarks, the Director of Electrical and Mechanical Services, Mr Pang Yiu-hung, thanked the attendees for their participation and meaningful sharing of information in the meeting, which could contribute to advancements in the work of energy efficiency.
      
     Mr Pang also remarked that the Principal Energy Efficiency Advisor of the Electrical and Mechanical Services Department (EMSD), Mr Vy Ek-chin, and the Chief Researcher of the China National Institute of Standardisation (CNIS), Dr Li Pengcheng, had been the Chairperson and Vice-chairperson of the EGEE&C respectively since 2019, and that their terms of office would expire by the end of June this year. He expressed gratitude for their remarkable contributions to the EGEE&C.
      
     Mr Pang hoped that the participants would continue with the mission and passion of enhancing energy efficiency and explore improvement measures to achieve APEC's goal of energy intensity reduction. He stressed that Hong Kong would continue to play a leading role in the EGEE&C and participate in the APEC work to strengthen collaboration with other APEC member economies and international organisations. Lastly, he announced that Hong Kong would host the 35th Meeting of APEC Expert Group on Energy Data and Analysis in the first half of 2024 and welcomed the participants to join.
