Draft Cheung Sha Wan Outline Zoning Plan approved
*************************************************
The Chief Executive in Council has approved the draft Cheung Sha Wan Outline Zoning Plan (OZP).

"The approved OZP provides a statutory land use planning framework to guide the development and redevelopment within the Cheung Sha Wan area," a spokesman for the Town Planning Board said today (February 17).

The planning scheme area, covering about 328 hectares, is bounded by the hill slopes of Eagle's Nest and Piper's Hill to the north, Tai Po Road and Berwick Street to the east, Boundary Street and Tung Chau Street Park to the south, West Kowloon Corridor and Lai Chi Kok Road to the southwest, and Butterfly Valley Road to the west.

The approved OZP has incorporated amendments shown on the draft Cheung Sha Wan OZP No. S/K5/38, which mainly involved the rezoning of the site of Wang Cheong Factory Estate and the adjacent section of Tan Lai Street from "Open Space" to "Residential (Group A)11" for public housing development, and other amendments to rationalise the zoning boundaries and/or reflect the as-built conditions and completed developments. An area of the OZP replaced by the approved Urban Renewal Authority Cheung Wah Street/Cheung Sha Wan Road Development Scheme Plan is also indicated on the OZP.

Opportunity is also taken to amend the Notes and Explanatory Statement of the OZP to reflect the above amendments and to update the general information of various land use zonings and the planning circumstances, where appropriate.

The approved Cheung Sha Wan OZP No. S/K5/39 is available for public inspection during office hours at (i) the Secretariat of the Town Planning Board, (ii) the Planning Enquiry Counters, (iii) the Tsuen Wan and West Kowloon District Planning Office and (iv) the Sham Shui Po District Office.

Copies of the approved OZP are available for sale at the Map Publications Centres in North Point and Yau Ma Tei. The electronic version of the OZP can be viewed at the Town Planning Board's website (www.info.gov.hk/tpb).
