Hong Kong Week@Wuhan, Hubei showcases glamour of arts and cultural diversity (with photos)

     The Hong Kong Week@Wuhan, Hubei is being held from today (February 15) until March 5 in Wuhan, Hubei Province in a hybrid mode. Various amazing arts and cultural programmes covering music, dance, drama, literature and traditional culture like screenings of stage productions and thematic exhibitions will be held. Outstanding works of several renowned art groups and artists in Hong Kong will be brought to Wuhan to strengthen the exchanges and collaborations in arts, culture and creativity between Hong Kong and Wuhan, a central Mainland city with rich historical and cultural background.
 
     The Hong Kong Week is a cultural exchange initiative for implementing the Hong Kong/Hubei Co-operation Mechanism established between the two places in 2021. It was originally scheduled to be held last year, but was postponed to this year due to the pandemic. The Hong Kong Week is co-presented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD), the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Wuhan Municipal Committee, the Wuhan Municipal Culture and Tourism Bureau and the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of Wuhan Municipal People's Government. It is supported by the Publicity Department of the CPC Hubei Provincial Committee, the Department of Culture and Tourism of Hubei Province, the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of Hubei Provincial People's Government and the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in Wuhan.
 
     The Hong Kong Week carries the theme of "A Voyage of Arts in the River Town". Mainland audiences can enjoy the screenings of performing arts programmes from renowned Hong Kong art groups and academy at different cultural venues in Wuhan. They include "Qintai.City on Rivers.The Sound of Water" by the Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra, "Shan Shui: An Ode to Nature" by the Hong Kong Dance Company, and "Dance/Connect" by the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, as well as "Gala Concert - An Evening of Classic Arias and Chinese Music Highlights by Warren Mok and Friends" by Opera Hong Kong, "Dead Man's Cell Phone" by Tang Shu-wing Theatre Studio and "Why We Chat?" by Edward Lam Dance Theatre, the three of which are presented by the Hong Kong Arts Development Council.
 
     In addition to performing arts programmes, the Hong Kong Public Libraries will present the thematic exhibition "Hong Kong Martial Arts Novels" at the Hubei Provincial Library to introduce the development of Hong Kong's new-style martial arts novels. The exhibition will highlight the characteristics of the works and literary achievements of four masters of martial arts novels in Hong Kong, namely Liang Yusheng, Jin Yong, Woon Swee Oan and Wong Yi.
 
     The LCSD's Intangible Cultural Heritage Office will display the "Delights of ICH - Hong Kong Intangible Cultural Heritage Video Show" at the Hubei Museum of Art to introduce a number of intangible cultural heritage items of Hong Kong, ranging from traditional rituals, craftsmanship to performing arts, leading Mainland audiences to experience the urban charm of Hong Kong that has inherited Chinese culture with local characteristics.
