Latest arrangements for open auctions of market stalls in overhauled Aberdeen Market
************************************************************************************
A spokesman for the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department (FEHD) said today (February 13) that open auctions for the market stalls in the overhauled Aberdeen Market will be held on Thursday (February 16). To allow more members of the public to participate in the auctions, an additional session at 6.30pm will be arranged apart from the original sessions at 10am and 2.30pm respectively. The auction schedule for stalls in each session has also been updated and the spokesman reminded persons interested in the auction to visit the FEHD website.

The open auctions of 93 market stalls in the Aberdeen Market will be held at the Youth Square at 238 Chai Wan Road, Chai Wan. Each session has 230 seats and are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Registration and issue of admission tickets of the auction will be arranged 30 minutes prior to the commencement of each auction. Persons who want to attend the auctions must wait at the waiting area of the auction venue and produce their Hong Kong identity card or passport for registration. The registered person will then be provided with an admission ticket for the auction.

The spokesman said, "Persons at least 18 years old and ordinarily residing in Hong Kong are welcomed to attend the open auctions. To allow more people to bid for the stalls and increase customer choices by enhancing the diversity in terms of the variety of stalls, any person shall only be allowed to bid for one stall in the Aberdeen Market. The terms and conditions of the auctions have been uploaded to the FEHD website, with details of qualifications of the bidders listed."

The spokesman reminded that persons interested in the auction may visit the Aberdeen Market in advance from 9.30am to 4.45pm tomorrow (February 14) as announced earlier. Persons under the age of 18 will not be allowed to enter. The FEHD will start issuing admission tickets (a total of eight touring sessions with a total of 240 admission tickets), on a first-come, first-served basis, at the Main Entrance on G/F of Aberdeen Municipal Services Building, 203 Aberdeen Main Road, at 9am tomorrow. Each person will be issued with one ticket and is allowed to select one touring session only. Participants are required to enter the market according to the respective sessions selected by them, and adhere to the safety rules concerned.
