S for S speaks on smooth operation at control points after full resumption of normal travel between Hong Kong and Mainland
******************************************************************************************
Following is the transcript of remarks by the Secretary for Security, Mr Tang Ping-keung, at a media session after inspecting the operation of the boundary control points at Liantang/Heung Yuen Wai, Lok Ma Chau and Lo Wu today (February 6):

Reporter: Secretary, you said that travellers may be advised to use other boundary points, because there are too many people here. Is the operation here not able to cope with the demand? Also, is there any chance that the health declaration form can be scrapped as well?

Secretary for Security: For the time being, the passenger flow in Lo Wu is very smooth. As I said before, there may be some construction works on the Mainland side of Lo Wu, and there may be some effect on the passenger flow in the future. That's the reason why the use of the Lok Ma Chau Boundary Control Point will help facilitate passenger flow. I appeal to passengers to listen to any announcement by MTRC (Mass Transit Railway Corporation) or by us regarding any needs to use other boundary control points. But I have to say that if there is any queuing up of passengers, please be patient.

For the time being, everything is normal and smooth. I am sure that with the co-ordination between Hong Kong and the Mainland side, there shouldn't be any major problem. Regarding the health declaration form, actually we are working with the other parties of the Mainland side to see how we can make it more effective and user-friendly for the passengers.
