The GSPA is an international photography contest that aims at communicating Chinese culture and values through images to the international audience. The GSPA Ceremony was held on January 17 at the British Library, where a Hong Kong photographer Miss Fion Hung Ching-yanwas awarded the "Highly Commended" prize. Miss Hung's work, titled "The Skeletons In The Closet", features a series of 10 photos and portraits the exploration of self-identity in Chinese familial traditions and moral standards.
The Director-General of the London ETO, Mr Gilford Law, attended the GSPA Ceremony. Congratulating Miss Hung, Mr Law said, "Talents are the key to artistic and cultural excellence. With the passion of creative practitioners in Hong Kong and capitalising on our sophisticated fusion of East and West, Hong Kong is determined to become a hub for arts and cultural exchanges between China and the rest of the world, as supported by the National 14th Five-Year Plan."
Other than the work of GSPA awardees, the work of various participating Hong Kong photographers was also featured digitally at the exhibition at the FUJIFILM House of Photography. Details of the GSPA can be found at www.sinophoto-awards.com.
