Final call for Hong Kong Science Museum's large-scale dinosaur exhibition which ends in late February (with photos)

Skeletons of eight of the world's most iconic creatures that once flourished in the age of dinosaurs, rare fossil bones and some of the most complete fossil dinosaur skeletons are being displayed in the exhibition. The precious exhibits come from museums and academic organisations in Germany, Switzerland, Italy, the Netherlands, Romania and Morocco. Except for the Tyrannosaurus, the other seven fossil skeletons, including the Triceratops, Allosaurus, Hesperosaurus, Diplodocus, Spinosaurus, Hatzegopteryx and a baby Sauropod are on display in Hong Kong for the first time. Owing to the enormous size of the exhibits, the museum has designated a total area of around 2 000 square metres at the exhibition hall. Through the use of multimedia projection technologies, special lighting effects, and the fusion of the latest scientific research, palaeontology artwork and unique scenography; the exhibition offers an immersive experience and a thrilling journey back in time to a prehistoric world. As these majestic creatures will unlikely be under one roof again after the "Big Eight" exhibition, the public should not miss this last chance to visit all these eight classic prehistoric giants in one fell swoop.
Guided tours in Cantonese will be arranged at the museum during Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays, three sessions per day. During the one-hour guided tour, visitors could learn more about the prehistoric world from different perspectives through introduction of the precious original fossils and scientific breakthroughs, to reveal the unique anatomical structures and living habits of the prehistoric creatures. Admission is free with limited quotas. Visitors can sign up on-site on a first-come, first-served basis.
Jointly presented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) and the First Initiative Foundation (FIF), and jointly organised by the Hong Kong Science Museum and the FIF, the exhibition is exclusively sponsored by the Hong Kong Jockey Club (HKJC); and supported by the MTR Corporation.
The exhibition is one of the many initiatives supported by the HKJC's approved donation of $630 million to the Government to mark the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the HKSAR, demonstrating that the HKJC is resolute in pursuing its purpose of acting continuously for the betterment of Hong Kong society, all in support of creating a stronger community together.
The exhibition production team is a respected group of internationally acclaimed professionals, comprising members from Hong Kong, Germany, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Italy, etc. The exhibition is facilitated by the FIF, whose move demonstrates its dedication to contributing to the community and bridging the gap between Hong Kong and the world.
Famous cartoon characters Chibi Maruko Chan and Hanawa Kun have joined FIF's bandwagon in support of their Educational Outreach Programme "My Date with Dinos". As Expedition Leaders, the two lovable characters will be guiding special free Weekend Safari Tours, in Cantonese, four sessions a day on January 28 (Saturday), January 29 (Sunday), February 12 (Sunday) and February 19 (Sunday) for children and adults to meet with the dino friends and bust some myths together.
