Miss Mak welcomed the delegation led by Member of the Standing Committee of the Foshan Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China and the Head of the United Front Work Department of the Foshan Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China Mr Ding Xifeng. Both Foshan and Hong Kong are cities in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, located in close geographical proximity. The two cities enjoy close economic and trade ties, with frequent flow of people, goods and capital. Miss Mak said the Youth Development Blueprint, which was recently promulgated by the Home and Youth Affairs Bureau (HYAB), proposed to promote young people's understanding of the country, to integrate into the national development and to seize the immense opportunities arising from the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. Amidst the resumption of normal travel between Hong Kong and the Mainland, youth exchange and internship programmes will also be relaunched in an orderly manner, she added. The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) Government will be pleased to explore proposals of jointly promoting Hong Kong youth development.

Miss Mak said, the HKSAR Government has always attached great importance to women's rights and well-being. Both sides also exchanged views on measures to support women's development during the meeting. She said that many Hong Kong women hope to go to the cities in the Greater Bay Area to develop their professions. She looked forward to working with Foshan to foster the comprehensive development of women's careers.

In addition, the HYAB will continue to strengthen ties with clansmen associations, including those of Foshan, to enhance exchanges in economics, trade, culture and tourism between the two places.
