Appointments to Intangible Cultural Heritage Advisory Committee

The ICH Advisory Committee was established in 2008 comprising local academics, experts and community personalities. The ICH Advisory Committee and its two sub-committees advise the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) Government on the research of ICH and the measures to safeguard and promote the ICH.
A spokesman for the Culture, Sports and Tourism Bureau thanked all the chairpersons and members of the ICH Advisory Committee and its sub-committees for their ardent support and contributions to the work of the ICH Advisory Committee over the years, including the four retiring members (Dr Dominic Chan Choi-hi, Ms Fanny Iu Kai-fan, Mr Ronald Kan Yu-him and Ms Vanessa Cheung Tih-lin), and looks forward to receiving the valuable advice of the new committees on preservation, promotion and transmission of ICH.

Terms of Reference:
- To advise on the compilation and updating of the inventory and the representative list of ICH in Hong Kong;
- To advise on the selection and nomination of Hong Kong's ICH items for application for inscription onto the national list or the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization's list;
- To advise on the measures for the safeguarding of ICH including research on and promotion, enhancement, transmission and revitalisation of ICH;
- To advise on the issues related to the implementation of the ICH Funding Scheme for engaging the community in safeguarding of ICH; and
- To advise on any other issues related to ICH as proposed by the HKSAR Government.
