Fatal traffic accident in Tseung Kwan O

     Police are investigating a fatal traffic accident happened in Tseung Kwan O in the small hours today (December 18), in which a 27-year-old female passenger of a private car died.

     At about 3.22am, a private car driven by a 27-year-old man was travelling along Tai Au Mun Road towards Kowloon. When approaching near Clear Water Bay Second Beach, the private car reportedly lost control and rammed into a lamp post.

     Sustaining multiple injuries, the female passenger was rushed to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in unconscious state and was certified dead at 4.55am. The male driver, who sustained injuries to his limbs, was sent to Tseung Kwan O Hospital in conscious state.

     The private car driver was arrested for dangerous driving causing death and is being detained for enquiries.

     Investigation by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, Kowloon East is underway.

     Anyone who witnessed the accident or has any information to offer is urged to contact the investigating officers on 3661 0264 or 3661 0277.

     Police strongly condemn the irresponsible driving behaviour of the driver. It not only jeopardises the safety of other road users and threatens one’s personal safety, but is also the actual cause of serious traffic accidents. Police do not tolerate such acts and will take resolute enforcement action.
