*****************************************************************************
The Social Welfare Department (SWD) today (December 13) announced a missing elderly person, who had left a holding centre without prior notification, and appealed to the public for information on the missing person.

Lam Fung-lin, aged 66, was admitted to the holding centre at Choi Wing Road Sports Centre on December 6 due to COVID-19 infection. He was found missing at around 3.30pm yesterday by staff members of the centre. Upon checking the CCTV footage, staff of the centre found that the missing man had left the centre through the fire exit at around 1pm.

Staff of the centre immediately conducted a search within the centre and the vicinity after noting the incident but the person could not be found. The centre subsequently notified the family and the residential care home of the missing man and made a report to the Police.

The missing man obtained negative results in the rapid antigen tests taken on December 11 and yesterday. He is about 1.6 meters tall of medium build and with short, black hair. He was wearing a blue windbreaker, grey trousers and slippers when he left the centre.

The SWD is very concerned about the incident and will fully co-operate with the Police to locate the missing man, and has requested the centre to submit an incident report and strengthen security. The SWD has also requested all holding centres to enhance manpower to guard every exit of each centre, and to stay vigilant about the conditions of the elderly patients.

The SWD appeals to the public to contact the Police or call the SWD hotline at 2343 2255 if they have any information about the missing man.
