Transcript of remarks by S for Health at media session
Following is the transcript of remarks made by the Secretary for Health, Professor Lo Chung-mau, at a media session after attending an event today (November 28):
Reporter: Is there any criteria for tightening the COVID measures, because the infection rate is going up?
Secretary for Health: There is no single criteria for all these anti-epidemic measures. We have to consider a whole basket of various factors. But the most important is still our vaccination rate, particularly the elderly population and the very young kids. We are most concerned about their health and also the pressure on our healthcare system. At this point, there is a surge in positive cases and there is also increasing pressure on our healthcare system. Over 2 700 beds are occupied by COVID-19 positive patients, and at the same time, we are seeing an increasing number of elderly admissions as well as deaths. So we have to be very cautious in deciding the next step in our anti-epidemic measures. Thank you.
