LCSD's family entertainment programmes "Cheers!" Series to celebrate festive season with audiences (with photos)

     The annual "Cheers!" Series programmes presented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) will be rolled out from December onwards. Covering screenings of ballet performance, interactive multimedia performances to pop-up book theatre, these family entertainment programmes performed by local and visiting performing groups will bring winter delights to people of all ages during the festive season.
 
     Highlighted programmes in the "Cheers!" Series include the following:
 
"The Snow Queen" (Stage Performance Screening) by Scottish Ballet (United Kingdom)

     Adapted from Hans Christian Andersen's classic tale, the story takes the audience on an amazing journey of love and friendship, from the bustling winter market to the fairytale forest, to meet a sparkling cast of characters along the way to the Snow Queen's palace.

Venue: Theatre, Hong Kong City Hall

"Techno Circus" by SIRO-A (Japan)

     Performers of Japanese art troupe SIRO-A will come to Hong Kong for this cross-year performance. Mixing dance and comedy mime with spectacular projection, light animation and pulsating electro beats, the programme brings the audience a ground-breaking interactive multimedia physical theatre performance with optical illusions.

                          3pm and 8pm on December 31 (Saturday)
                          3pm on January 1, 2023 (Sunday)

"The Good.Old.Days" (Rework) Pop-Up Book Theatre by Lau Ming-hang

     Combining paper craft and light-and-shadow art, local paper artist and stage lighting designer Lau Ming-hang transforms a fantasy story into an exquisite pop-up book with paper puppets. As each page is turned, nostalgic memories of our surroundings in the city will be shared with audiences in the theatre.
 
Times and dates: 7.45pm on January 12 and 13, 2023 (Thursday and Friday)
                          2.30pm and 7.45pm on January 14, 2023 (Saturday)
                          2.30pm on January 15, 2023 (Sunday)

     The "Cheers!" Series will also launch online family entertainment programmes later, enabling members of the public to enjoy the performances at home. Relevant programmes will be announced on the above-mentioned website in due course.
 
     In order to comply with the requirements stipulated in the Prevention and Control of Disease (Requirements and Directions) (Business and Premises) Regulation (Cap. 599F) and relevant requirements of administrative instructions, members of the public are required to scan the "LeaveHomeSafe" venue QR code with their mobile phones/other mobile devices before being allowed to enter the performing arts venues managed by the LCSD. In accordance with the Prevention and Control of Disease (Vaccine Pass) Regulation (Cap. 599L) and relevant requirements of administrative instructions, all persons entering indoor venues under the management of the LCSD must comply with the requirements of the Vaccine Pass. According to the latest requirements on the Vaccine Pass announced by the Government, all persons with their Vaccine Pass QR codes displayed in red or amber are not allowed to enter performing arts venues managed by the LCSD.
