The winners of the Best Landscape Award for Private Property Development 2022, organised by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD), were announced at a prize presentation ceremony today (November 17). Thirteen private properties with outstanding landscape design and quality horticultural maintenance received Gold Awards. In addition to the 13 Gold Awards, 36 Merit Awards and 12 Environmental Efficiency Awards were given out at the ceremony to commend organisations for their efforts in greening and enhancing public awareness of green issues.

In his address at the ceremony, the Director of Leisure and Cultural Services, Mr Vincent Liu, said the Best Landscape Award, held once every two years, was one of the LCSD's major activities to promote greening. The award aimed to commend private property developments that excel in landscape design and horticultural maintenance, and encourage developers to incorporate more quality green elements into the planning and management of horticultural projects for the benefit of sustained environmental improvements.

Mr Liu added that the response was encouraging, with 212 nominated entries received this year. The winning projects were remarkable, integrating distinctive landscape features, seasonal flowers and plants and even installation art to create oases in the city. Rooftop gardening, podium planting, vertical greening walls and special garden plots were also employed to enhance the coverage of greenery. Moreover, a variety of environmentally friendly measures were adopted to promote environmental awareness and green living.

The prize presentation ceremony was held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre today. Besides Mr Liu, other officiating guests included representatives from the co-organisers. They were the President-elect of the Hong Kong Institute of Architects, Mr Benny Chan; the Immediate Past President of the Hong Kong Institute of Landscape Architects, Ms Iris Hoi; Vice President of the Institute of Horticulture (Hong Kong) Mr Kingsley Choi; the President of the Hong Kong Institute of Surveyors, Mr Chiu Kam-kuen; the Chairman of the Professional Green Building Council, Mr Joel Chan; and the Immediate Past President of the Hong Kong Association of Property Management Companies, Dr Johnnie Chan.
