Nomination of candidates for 2023 Rural Ordinary Election to end today

A spokesman for the HAD said that the full list of nominees would be uploaded onto the Rural Representative Election website (www.had.gov.hk/rre) for public inspection. After vetting and verifying the eligibility of nominees, Returning Officers will publish a gazette notice on valid nominations on December 1.
The Village Representative (VR) (including IIR and ReR) Election will be conducted on January 8, 2023 (Sunday), while the KFR Election for Market Towns will be held on January 15, 2023 (Sunday). There are 191 088 and 8 990 registered electors in total for the VR Election and the KFR Election respectively.
The Elections involve 709 villages and two market towns (i.e. Cheung Chau and Peng Chau) as listed in the schedules of the Rural Representative Election Ordinance (Chapter 576). There are 1 484 VR seats in total, including 695 ReR seats and 789 IIR seats. In addition, there are 39 and 17 KFR seats for Cheung Chau and Peng Chau respectively.
For eligible electors staying outside Hong Kong who plan to return to Hong Kong to cast their votes, the HAD appealed to them to arrange their itinerary in advance and pay attention to the prevailing quarantine arrangements for inbound travellers.
