LCSD's Cantonese Opera Day celebrates 20th anniversary with online and phone registration for free admission tickets to start Monday
******************************************************************************************
The annual Cantonese Opera Day, presented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD), will be celebrating its 20th anniversary this year with an array of activities to be held on November 27 (Sunday) at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre (HKCC) and the Hong Kong Space Museum (Space Museum). Admission is free with tickets. Tickets will be available through online and telephone registration from November 14 (Monday) on a first-come, first-served basis. Some tickets for the "Cantonese Opera Excerpts and Cantonese Operatic Songs" programme will be reserved for walk-in participants while stocks last.

This year's Cantonese Opera Day offers a variety of fringe activities for the enjoyment of Cantonese opera lovers and participants of all ages. The talk "Cantonese Opera Chat and Learn" will be held at the Lecture Hall of the Space Museum in the morning, where tutors and their young and teenage students will share their experiences and thoughts about acquiring the skills of Cantonese opera. In the afternoon, a host of exciting programmes will take place at the HKCC, including "Cantonese Opera Excerpts and Cantonese Operatic Songs" to be staged at the Concert Hall, where young Cantonese opera talents as well as winners of the Hong Kong Schools Music Festival Cantonese Opera Competition will take turns to perform classic excerpts and familiar duet and solo pieces. The "Cantonese Opera in Hong Kong" Exhibition, which is co-ordinated by the Hong Kong Heritage Museum, will be held at the Foyer Exhibition Area. A number of talks and demonstration sessions, covering areas such as Cantonese opera make-up, costumes, percussion and traditional Cantonese singing, will be held in the conference rooms and Exhibition Gallery on Level 4 of the Administration Building. All these activities will allow participants to learn more about Cantonese opera, a world intangible cultural heritage item, from multiple perspectives.
