Welcoming the above appointments, the Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury, Mr Christopher Hui, said, "I am confident that the expertise and experience of the appointees will contribute to the effective operation of the Tribunal and the Committee."
Mr Hui also expressed his gratitude to the outgoing Chairman of the Committee, Professor Francis Chin Yuk-lun, and other outgoing members for their valuable contribution over the past years. They are outgoing members of the Tribunal, Ms Joan Ho Yuk-wai and Ms Cindi Hui Ming-ming; member of the Committee, Mr Michael Shue; and members of both of the Tribunal and the Committee, Ms Annie Chan Wai-hing and Ms Sabita Prakash.
The Tribunal is established under the Ordinance to hear appeals from persons aggrieved by any reviewable decision of the Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) made under the Ordinance.
The Committee is established by the Chief Executive to review independently the processes and procedures adopted by the HKMA in making decisions relating to the designated systems in which the HKMA has a legal or beneficial interest.
The above appointments were gazetted today.
