New Vision Arts Festival to present multi-arts production "HACK" by GayBird and Ata Wong (with photos)

GayBird excels at using technology, media art, spacing and sound in his creations, while Wong provides the narrative in the shows through the bodies and movements of the performers. GayBird skilfully arranges sounds to spill from different corners to create an evocative sonic mosaic, while Wong constantly reshapes and regroups cold machines and warm bodies. The crossover by the duo will offer audiences an absurd, even surrealist, theatrical creation.
Active as a composer, arranger, music director and producer in Hong Kong's music and arts industry, GayBird has many years of experience in multidisciplinary art, and has won numerous awards. In 2018, he received the United Kingdom's Lumen Prize for his sound installation "Fidgety (in between up and down)". His works have been exhibited in various festivals around the world including Austria and Australia. In recent years, GayBird has created new media works, incorporating elements of spatiality, installation and visual arts into live performances.
Wong is a director, choreographer, actor, physical theatre director and drama instructor. He is also a lecturer at the School of Drama of the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts. He founded the Théâtre de la Feuille in 2010 and received the Award for Young Artist (Drama) at the Hong Kong Arts Development Awards in 2017. He also won the Director of the Year at the International Association of Theatre Critics (Hong Kong) Critics Awards in 2019 and the Best Director and Best Overall Performance at the Hong Kong Theatre Libre in 2020 with his work "L'Orphelin".
"HACK" is one of the programmes of the NVAF. It will be held at 8pm on November 4 and 5 and at 3pm on November 5 and 6 at the Studio Theatre of the Hong Kong Cultural Centre. A meet-the-artist session will be held after the performance on November 4.

In addition to the stage performances, a free online programme for "HACK" is now available at the NVAF webpage www.nvaf.gov.hk/programmes/31. GayBird and Wong will utilise unusual modes of expression to start a dialogue about technology and the world.
Organised by the LCSD, the NVAF will be held from October 28 to November 20, showcasing a range of creative, pioneering and interdisciplinary programmes. In order to comply with the requirements stipulated in the Prevention and Control of Disease (Requirements and Directions) (Business and Premises) Regulation (Cap. 599F) and relevant requirements of administrative instructions, members of the public are required to scan the "LeaveHomeSafe" venue QR code with their mobile phones/other mobile devices before being allowed to enter the performing arts venues managed by the LCSD for necessary contact tracing if a confirmed case is found. In accordance with the Prevention and Control of Disease (Vaccine Pass) Regulation (Cap. 599L) and relevant requirements of administrative instructions, all persons entering indoor venues under the management of the LCSD must comply with the requirement of the Vaccine Pass. According to the latest requirement on the Vaccine Pass announced by the Government, all persons with their Vaccine Pass QR codes displayed in red or amber are not allowed to enter the performing arts venues managed by the LCSD.
