LegCo Subcommittee on Matters Relating to the Development of Smart City visits Smart Government Pavilion (with photos)

The following is issued on behalf of the Legislative Council Secretariat:
 
     The Legislative Council Subcommittee on Matters Relating to the Development of Smart City visited the Smart Government Pavilion at the International ICT Expo 2022 today (October 13) to learn about the Government's work progress in promoting smart city development in Hong Kong.
 
     Accompanied by the Government Chief Information Officer, Mr Victor Lam, and representatives of the Innovation, Technology and Industry Bureau, Members were given a tour on the exhibits at the Smart Government Pavilion. They were also briefed by representatives of the Office of the Government Chief Information Officer on the application of innovation and technology to public services that are closely linked to people's lives as well as how the Government combats the COVID-19 epidemic with technology.
 
     During the tour at the Smart Government Pavilion, which is under the theme of "Smarter・Hong Kong", Members experienced firsthand the innovative technology solutions, simulating demonstration and interactive devices adopted by the Government covering different areas, including "Smart Mobility", "Smart Living", "Smart Environment", "Smart Government", "Smart Airport" and "Smart Village" for the provision of more efficient service to the public.
 
     Members also took the opportunity during the visit to discuss with officials on how the Government can foster closer collaboration with the innovation and technology industry and academic institutions so as to expedite the implementation of initiatives relating to the smart city development.
 
     A total of 20 members and non-members of the Subcommittee on Matters Relating to the Development of Smart City attended the visit.
