LCSD arranges live broadcasts of sold-out Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra concerts for two consecutive nights

     Tickets to the two concerts of the internationally renowned Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, which will be staged on October 24 and 25 (Monday and Tuesday) at the Concert Hall of the Hong Kong Cultural Centre, have sold out.

     To let more members of the public enjoy the spectacular performances of the Orchestra, the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) has arranged live broadcasts of the two concerts at 8pm on RTHK TV32 and RTHK Radio 4. Music lovers can also watch the concerts through the programme website at www.lcsd.gov.hk/CE/CulturalService/Programme/en/music/programs_1403.html.

     Under the baton of the world-acclaimed conductor Franz Welser-Möst, the Orchestra will perform Wagner's "Prelude to Parsifal, WWV 111", Richard Strauss's "Death and Transfiguration, Op. 24" and Dvoƙák's "Symphony No. 8 in G, Op. 88" in the first concert. In the second concert, the programme includes Brahms's "Tragic Overture, Op. 81" and "Symphony No. 3 in F, Op. 90", as well as Richard Strauss's "Thus Spoke Zarathustra, Op. 30".
 
     Presented by the LCSD, the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra concerts are part of the programmes celebrating the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR). The programme is also under the exclusive sponsorship of the Hong Kong Jockey Club (HKJC) as one of the many initiatives supported by the HKJC's approved donation of $630 million to the Government of the HKSAR to mark the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the HKSAR, demonstrating that the HKJC is resolute in pursuing its purpose of acting continuously for the betterment of society, all in support of creating a stronger community together.
