******************************************************************************************
The Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office, Jakarta (HKETO Jakarta) today (September 9) launched the "Marvels in Hong Kong: 25 Years and Beyond" roving exhibition in Jakarta, Indonesia, to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR).

Co-organised by HKETO Jakarta with the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Development Office and the Hong Kong Tourism Board, the exhibition aims to underscore the remarkable achievements of the HKSAR over the past 25 years, as well as to highlight Hong Kong's unlimited opportunities under the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) and its appeal in such areas as tourism and culture.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the exhibition today, the Director-General of HKETO Jakarta, Mr Law Kin-wai, said that the exhibition showcases to the Indonesian community Hong Kong's unique character with its iconic East-meets-West culture and dynamic confluence of the old and the new, as well as the city's latest developments in different facets.

In his online address, the Commissioner for the Development of the GBA, Mr Tommy Yuen, pointed out that Hong Kong is the best gateway to tap into the GBA market. The Outline Development Plan for the GBA supports Hong Kong to fully utilise its status as international finance, transportation and trade centres, as well as an international aviation hub, to create and amplify opportunities for companies and professionals to go to the GBA. The many strengths of Hong Kong under "one country, two systems" will help our friends from the Association of Southeast Asian Nations to participate in and benefit from GBA development.

The guests joining the occasion also included the Chairman of the Indonesia Hong Kong Business Association, Mr James Budiono, and the Officer-in-charge of Indonesia of the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, Ms Rachel Kurniawan. HKETO Jakarta arranged an engaging performance by a local lion dance group for the ceremony, and also presented the theme song of the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the HKSAR, "Heading Forward", to share the joy and excitement of this important milestone of the HKSAR.

The Indonesia chapter of the "Marvels in Hong Kong: 25 Years and Beyond" roving exhibition will run at Kota Kasablanka, a major shopping centre in Jakarta, from today until September 11, during which interactive sessions will be held to give out souvenirs to visitors. This exhibition was first presented in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, in late August, and will be staged in Manila, the Philippines, next month to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the HKSAR.
