******************************************************************************************
To commemorate the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR), the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office, London (London ETO) supported "Making Waves - Navigators of Hong Kong Cinema", showcasing a selection of new Hong Kong films and classics, in Copenhagen, Denmark, from August 26 to 28 (Copenhagen time). The programme was presented by Create Hong Kong in partnership with the Copenhagen Asian Film Festival.

The London ETO hosted a reception before the screening of Longman Leung's biographical drama "Anita" in Copenhagen to start the official opening of the first Hong Kong film festival in Denmark since the beginning of the pandemic. Addressing the audience, the Director-General of the London ETO, Mr Gilford Law, highlighted Hong Kong's unique status and strengths under "one country, two systems" as well as its vibrancy in keeping people engaged in various dynamic ways all year round.

Mr Law said, "With our artistic and creative development covering both hardware and software, notably including the West Kowloon Cultural District and Art Basel as flagships, Hong Kong is rapidly becoming a major arts hub in Asia. Capitalising on our sophisticated fusion of East and West, we are determined to become a hub for arts and cultural exchanges between China and the rest of the world, as supported by the National 14th Five-Year Plan."

Mr Law also updated the audience on the revised quarantine and medical surveillance arrangements for overseas arrivals that started on August 12. "The latest arrangement demonstrates the determination of Hong Kong to reconnect with the world. With the recent relaxation of travel restrictions, it is a good time to visit Hong Kong with ease and explore the vibrancy of the city in person," he added.

The programme presented seven Hong Kong films, namely "Anita", "Rouge", "One Second Champion", "Hand Rolled Cigarette", "Men on the Dragon", "Time" and "Limbo", to audiences in Denmark.
