Civil Service College holds second seminar of "Dialogue with Experts" series (with photos)
******************************************************************************************
The Civil Service College has launched the "Dialogue with Experts" seminar series for directorate and senior civil servants, and held today (August 23) the second seminar on the topic of "Leadership in New Era – Staying Vigilant in Peacetime, Overcoming Challenges with Poise". Veteran media professional Ms Chan Suk-mei served as the moderator of the seminar today. The two speakers were Member of the Executive Council, Mr Joseph Yam, and the Chief Executive Officer of the Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce, Mr George Leung.

Addressing the seminar, the Secretary for the Civil Service, Mrs Ingrid Yeung, mentioned that the important speech delivered by President Xi Jinping at the meeting celebrating the 25th anniversary of Hong Kong's return to the motherland had explicitly expressed the Central Government's full support for Hong Kong in maintaining its unique position and strengths on a long-term basis, and in consolidating its status as an international financial, shipping and trading centre. However, under the impact of factors such as the epidemic and the weak global economy, it is particularly challenging for Hong Kong's economy to recover. She hoped that the seminar could help enlighten civil servants on how to enable Hong Kong to leverage its edges under "one country, two systems" in their different positions, strengthen Hong Kong's status as an international financial centre, enhance its competitiveness and enable its integration into our country's overall development.

By bringing together experts, scholars and leaders from different sectors to discuss important issues affecting the global landscape and social development through multiple lenses, the "Dialogue with Experts" seminar series enables civil servants to broaden their horizons, gain inspirations, get in touch with the pulse of the community more closely, and enhance their leadership and management capabilities.

During the seminar today, the speakers shared with participants their views on the future of Hong Kong's financial and trade development amid the current geopolitics and our country's latest policy. They also engaged in discussion and exchanged views with participants.

The seminar took place in the College at the North Point Government Offices, and was attended by around 110 civil servants in the directorate and senior ranks.
