Countryside Conservation Office showcases rural uniqueness at "Future Captured" photo and video exhibition
******************************************************************************************
Members of the public are invited to visit the "Future Captured" photo and video exhibition held for eight days at the Central Market from today (August 15) by the Countryside Conservation Office (CCO) of the Environmental Protection Department (EPD) to showcase the beautiful and unique aspects of Hong Kong's rural areas.

The CCO earlier launched the "Back to Our Countryside" campaign with a photo and video competition, and online guided tours to encourage members of the public to explore Hong Kong's remote rural areas to experience natural ecology and the warmth of village life. This campaign is one of the celebration activities for the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.

A spokesman for the EPD said the "Retaining the Past" photo and video competition under the campaign received an overwhelming response with high-quality submissions, ranging from gorgeous countryside shots to more human presentations, exploring the beauty of Hong Kong's countryside as seen through the eyes of the public.

A mural created by a local artist and an artwork depicting a Hakka village will also be displayed in the exhibition for visitors to take photos. Moreover, the CCO will share with the public its work over the past four years, including countryside revitalisation, ecological conservation and community education.

In addition, non-profit organisations under the Countryside Conservation Funding Scheme will participate in the "Countryside Living Market" set up at the exhibition venue on August 20 and 21, selling handmade drinks, organic sauces, agricultural products and souvenirs, to let the public savour a taste of rural life. The market will be open from noon to 8pm.

The exhibition will run until August 22. For details, please visit the "Back to Our Countryside" campaign website www.backtoourcountryside.hk.
