Film Archive to hold free screenings in "Cine Memories of the War of National Resistance" special programme (with photo)

     The Hong Kong Film Archive (HKFA) of the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) will present a special programme entitled "Cine Memories of the War of National Resistance" on September 3. The following two selected films will be shown free of charge, allowing audiences to revisit these classics on the victory day of the Chinese people's war of resistance against Japanese aggression.

"Ten Thousand Li Ahead" (1941)
September 3 at 2.30pm

"Road" (1959)
September 3 at 5pm

     Both films will be screened at the HKFA Cinema. Admission is free with tickets that will be distributed at the box office of the HKFA starting from August 21 (Sunday), on Monday and from Wednesday to Sunday from noon to 5pm. Each person can receive up to two tickets each time, either for the same screening or for different screenings, on a first-come, first-served basis while stocks last. Limited walk-in seats will also be available on a first-come, first-served basis. Audiences are welcome to queue up at the 1/F Foyer of the HKFA 45 minutes before the screening begins. Each person can register for one ticket while stocks last.

     "Ten Thousand Li Ahead" tells the story of driver Ko Wah and dancer Siu Fung, who maintain their conscience even when living a hard life in Hong Kong, and finally return to the Mainland to assist in repelling the Japanese invasion. The film is in Mandarin with Chinese subtitles.

     "Road", set during the war of resistance against Japan, centres on a thriller story that begins with porter Lee Shing being entrusted to smuggle weapons to guerrillas fighting against the Japanese invasion. The film is in Cantonese without subtitles.

     In order to comply with the requirements stipulated in the Prevention and Control of Disease (Requirements and Directions) (Business and Premises) Regulation (Cap. 599F) and relevant requirements of administrative instructions, members of the public are required to scan the "LeaveHomeSafe" venue QR code with their mobile phones/other mobile devices before being allowed to enter the HKFA for necessary contact tracing if a confirmed case is found. In accordance with the Prevention and Control of Disease (Vaccine Pass) Regulation (Cap. 599L) and relevant requirements of administrative instructions, all persons entering indoor venues under the management of the LCSD must comply with the relevant requirement of the Vaccine Pass. According to the latest requirement on the Vaccine Pass announced by the Government, all persons with their Vaccine Pass QR codes displayed in red or amber are not allowed to enter the HKFA under the management of the LCSD.
