**************************************************************************
A delegation representing the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) Government will attend meetings of the United Nations Human Rights Committee (the Committee) by videoconferencing tomorrow (July 7), and on July 8 and 12.

A Government spokesman said today (July 6) that the delegation of the HKSAR Government will introduce to the Committee the HKSAR's fourth report in light of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR), and answer the Committee's questions on the implementation of the ICCPR in the HKSAR.

"This is the fourth time the Committee has considered a report submitted by the HKSAR in light of the ICCPR since 1997. The previous meeting was held in March 2013," the spokesman added.

The delegation will be led by the Secretary for Constitutional and Mainland Affairs, Mr Erick Tsang Kwok-wai, and the members of the delegation will include officials from the Department of Justice, Education Bureau, Security Bureau, Constitutional and Mainland Affairs Bureau, Hong Kong Police Force and the Labour Department.

The HKSAR Government fully implements the relevant provisions of the ICCPR as applied to Hong Kong and protects the rights and freedoms enjoyed by Hong Kong residents in accordance with the law. The HKSAR report has been uploaded to the website of the Constitutional and Mainland Affairs Bureau at www.cmab.gov.hk/en/issues/prc_7.htm.
